Booking from ChatGPT and Claude: what mira’s MCP connector does for your business

· 4 min read

More people now ask an AI assistant to find and book an appointment. mira’s MCP connector lets them book you from ChatGPT, Claude and other AI apps — and lets you check bookings, answer chats and update your setup just by chatting.

A growing number of people no longer start with a search engine. They open ChatGPT or Claude and type “find me a hairdresser who is free on Friday afternoon” or “book me a dental check-up next week”. Until recently, the best an assistant could do was suggest a few names and a link, and the customer still had to finish the booking somewhere else.

mira now has an MCP connector, which means an AI assistant can look up your services, see your real free times and make the booking itself — with the customer’s confirmation. The same connector also works the other way round: you can run your mira account from the AI app you already use.

What MCP is, in plain words

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI apps use outside services. A service publishes a connector; an AI app that is connected to it can then look things up and take actions through it, but only the ones the service allows.

Claude, ChatGPT, Grok and many developer tools support it. For you this means you do not have to build or maintain anything for each AI app separately: mira provides one connector, and it uses the same information, rules and calendar as your website chat and booking page.

For your customers: book without leaving the chat

  • They can find your business by name, service, town or website address.
  • The assistant sees your services, prices, opening hours and booking rules — the ones you set in mira, nothing invented.
  • It offers real free times, the same ones your booking page shows.
  • When the customer picks a time, mira emails them a 6-digit code. The booking is only made once they give that code to their assistant, so nobody can book in someone else’s name.
  • The customer receives the usual confirmation email with a link to move or cancel, and the booking lands in your calendar like any other, with the same notifications.

You decide whether you can be found

Booking from AI apps is off by default. To turn it on, go to Settings → Booking page and switch on “Bookable from AI assistants”. It works for businesses that use the built-in mira calendar (Pro plan) and have their booking page enabled.

Only businesses that have turned this on can be found and booked. If you switch it off later, AI apps can no longer reach your calendar.

For you: run mira by chatting

If you already use Claude or ChatGPT, you can connect it to your mira account. The first time you ask it to do something with your business, it asks you to sign in with your mira email and approve access. From then on it works on your one business only, with the same rules as the mira dashboard.

A few things you can simply ask for:

  • “Help me set up mira” — it walks you through the setup: your business description, services and prices, opening hours, common questions, the look of the chat, and a test of the answers before you go live.
  • “Who is booked tomorrow?” or “Show me Anna’s bookings.”
  • “Move Eszter’s appointment to Thursday 10:00” or “Book Péter for a haircut on Monday at 9.”
  • “Which chats need a reply?” — and then “Reply that we can fit her in at 4 pm.”
  • “We are closed from 24 to 26 December.”
  • “Add a question about parking: there is free parking behind the building.”

Built to be careful

An AI assistant that can change your bookings needs guard rails, so the connector has them built in:

  • Only account owners can connect an AI app, and you can disconnect it at any time in Settings → AI assistants.
  • AI apps never see card details or sign-in codes. Payments and plan changes happen on Stripe’s own pages.
  • Owners cannot be added or removed through an AI app. Every owner gets an email when an app changes the team, the notification email or the allowed websites.
  • Anything that emails a customer — a new booking, a change, a reply — is meant to be confirmed with you first.
  • What customers write in chats or notes is treated as information, never as instructions to the assistant.

How to connect

The connector address is https://www.bookwithmira.com/api/mcp. In Claude (web, desktop or mobile), open Settings → Connectors, choose Add custom connector and paste the address. In ChatGPT, add it as a connector in developer mode; app availability in ChatGPT still varies by country. Grok, Cursor, VS Code and other MCP-capable apps accept it as a remote (HTTP) connector.

Your customers need no mira account at all: they only confirm their booking with the emailed code. Step-by-step instructions and the full list of what the connector can do are on bookwithmira.com/ai-assistants.

Why it is worth turning on now

Booking through AI assistants is still early, which is exactly why it is worth being there. The businesses an assistant can actually book are the ones it will recommend first — a name and a phone number are not enough when the customer expects the assistant to finish the job.

If you already use the mira calendar, turning it on costs nothing extra and takes one switch. Your calendar, your rules and your notifications stay exactly as they are; you simply gain one more place where customers can book you.
